A&P Interschool Equestrian Competition
I love photographing wildlife and landscapes, responding to the light and capturing moments as I notice them. But as I get more comfortable with my camera and the technical skills of photography, I want to challenge myself.
One of my goals in photography is to try new subjects and genres. This is partly to develop a diverse portfolio that shows my skills, but also to explore other genres of photography that I may enjoy.
When I heard there was to be a local equestrian event, I messaged the organiser and asked if I could shoot the event. I told them I am building my portfolio and I haven’t photographed an equestrian event before, so I would do it for free as a chance to practice. I met with the organiser beforehand to discuss their expectations and get some tips, and did a lot of research online (YouTube, podcasts, and Pinterest).
It was a great learning experience, though I was too nervous to really enjoy the day! I have another equestrian event coming up this month so I will take my learning with me - and leave my nerves at home!
